Book Drive 2026
This May, we’re inviting you to be part of something simple – but powerful. In partnership with The Reading Nest, we’re hosting a Book Drive to help expand access to reading and support lifelong learning for individuals and families in our community.
From May 1-31, you can drop off new or gently used books at our branch. Every book donated helps put knowledge, imagination, and opportunity into someone else’s hands.
Books for Everyone
One of the best things about this drive? Every book has value.
We’re collecting books across all genres, ages, and reading levels, including:
- Children’s books – board books, picture books, early readers
- Middle grade & teen titles – chapter books and young adult fiction
- Adult books – fiction, non-fiction, biographies, and more
- Educational & reference materials
- English & Spanish language titles
Whether it’s a beloved story you’ve outgrown or a novel you couldn’t put down, your donation can spark curiosity and open doors for someone else.
Why It Matters
Books are more than just pages – they’re tools for growth. They help build literacy skills, support education, and even strengthen financial understanding at every stage of life.
By donating, you’re helping:
- Promote early literacy and a love of reading
- Provide accessible learning resources for all ages
- Support financial education and confidence
- Create more opportunities for children, individuals and families to thrive
Ways to Give
Getting involved is easy:
- Drop off new or gently used books at our Salem branch (631 Winter St NE, Salem, OR 97301) anytime in May
- Prefer to give online? You can also support The Reading Nest by donating directly to them here.
Be Part of the Story
Every book you give becomes part of someone else’s journey – whether it’s a child learning to read, a teen discovering new ideas, or an adult building their imagination or financial confidence.
Stand Tall with us and help turn the page toward a stronger community.
